What sort of personality disorders would a person X have who has a network of syncophants, either adhering to?

him/her for their own advancement, their fear for job security, or whatever. This network functions as spies, saboteurs of the work of others, and apologists for the person X, in order to preserve the person X’s position, thus ensuring their own survival.

It is said that power corrupts, and that absolute power corrupts absolutely. The person may not have a personality disorder. What you see is the consequence of natural laws.

By the way, do not think of him as safe in that position. Such people can stay in that situation perhaps for years, but then reality has a way to assert itself.
