How much horsepower does a 1979 trans am have stock?

I am 17 and I’m getting my first car and I wanted to know how much horsepower a 1979 trans am with a 6.6 402 engine has stock. Thanks in advance.

Just a rough guess, but I’d say about 150 hp. It’s a 403, by the way, not 402. I had that engine in my ‘79 Olds 98. Good engine.

  3. the 403 is a very good engine and has about 180 horsepower in the 79 t/a. if driven sanely, it will give you good mileage and still have enough power to satisfy you.
